For ten days, starting off in Piraeus, Athens, we island-hopped by ferry around some of the most beautiful whitewashed islands of the Cyclades. The first pit stop was the capital of the Cyclades, Syros where the sand glitters with mica. Next up was the famed island of Paros, known for it’s entirely flawless Parian Marble of which you will have seen some of the most beautiful sculptures carved from including the likes of Nike of Samothrace. Thirdly we visited Ios, which was by far the highlight of the trip, with it’s idyllic clifftop Chora and romantic sunsets. Lastly is Santorini, which is a strange but beautiful island in many ways, largely spoilt by excessive tourism but geologically fascinating and home to Akrotiri, The Pompeii of the Aegean.
